About the Artist: "Before retiring to Southport, I was a psychotherapist in Raleigh. My first drawing lesson was twenty-five years ago in night classes at Meredith College. I then studied privately for two years at Artspace in Raleigh. I have taken more than a dozen week long workshops – most notably with Don Andrews, Louise Cadillac, Miles Batt, Skip Lawrence, Polly Hammett, Alex Powers, and John Salminen. My continuing interest in psychology is now expressed by trying to capture mood and feeling with paint and paper." "In 2003 I exhibited in the National Watercolor Society’s 83rd Exhibition. Among the jurors of selection were Carol Barnes, Carla O’Connor and John Salminen. I was then approved for NWS Signature Membership. In 2006 I was awarded the Signature Membership by the Watercolor Society of North Carolina." Want to see more of Susan Mauney's work, and others? Visit our Instagram!
