Sophie Victoria is a multidisciplinary artist based in Sydney, Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and a Master of Fine Arts in Drawing from the National Art School, Sydney, and previously trained in visual communications design. Her work was shortlisted as a finalist for the 2022 Sir John Sulman Prize and was included in the Archibald, Wynne, and Sulman Prize Exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Victoria’s practice seamlessly merges painting with new media to create immersive, sensorial environments that investigate the relationships between light, perception, and the living body. Through iridescent surfaces, layered materials, and shifting visual effects, Victoria constructs spaces that move between intimacy and spectacle, illusion and revelation, inviting viewers into dynamic sensory experiences that both challenge and expand perception. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions internationally, including QUALIA at Galerie Robertson Arès in Montréal, marking her Canadian solo debut, Her Alchemy in London, and DARING in Sydney. She has also participated in major art fairs such as Art Toronto, Expo Chicago, Art Miami, Contemporary Istanbul, and Kiaf Seoul. Recent group exhibitions in Australia have been held at leading institutions and galleries in New South Wales and Tasmania. Victoria’s works are held in the City of Sydney Permanent Collection and the National Art School Permanent Collection, as well as in numerous private and corporate collections worldwide. Her work has been featured in publications including Magazine Ligne, Art/Edit Magazine, and ArtsHub, and she continues to be recognized for her innovative exploration of material, light, and embodied perception.
