Artist Elizabeth Robinson specializes in kiln-formed and sculpted glass that captures the spirit, rhythm, and storytelling traditions of Mississippi. Vibrant color, fluid form and deeply personal themes are present in her work. From a small bird in repose, a dancing figure, or a wall piece depicting a local scene, each piece tells a story rooted in the culture and community of the south. Viewers are drawn to the balance of movement and the evoked emotion and nostalgia of Robinson's work. One of the most beloved aspects of her work is the series of small glass birds she creates. These have developed a following across the country and internationally with collectors reaching out regularly to ask when the next flock will "hatch". "The birds, like the rest of my work, feel familiar and full of heart. They remind people of home, nesting, family and joy." Robinson is a native Mississippian, with over 40 years of experience working in glass. She is connected to the spirit of this place, its people, landscapes, sounds and stories have shaped her life and her art. She has been an active member of the Craftsmen's Guild of MS, studied with the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, WA, Studio of the Museum at Corning Glass, Corning, NY, Penland School of Crafts, Penland, NC and Glass 3 with Michael Dupille in Jackson, MS. Her work has been represented at the Art Institute of Chicago, Mississippi Museum of Art and multiple regional galleries. Additionally, she has created the awards for the Mississippi Governor's Arts Awards and the Mississippi Museum of Art Centennial Commission. Robinsons work has been included in the permanent collection and as a permanent public installation at the Mississippi Museum of Art, featured in ArtFulHome catalogs and she has been nominated for the Corning Glass Award.
