Stephanie Paige: Nature’s Muse and Artistic Visionary Stephanie Paige has been captivated by nature her entire life. Born into a highly creative family of painters, writers, musicians, and craftsmen, she began experimenting with diverse art mediums at an early age. Inspired by the Michigan wilderness where she grew up, her early compositions depicted landscapes and animals. As a young adult, Stephanie began painting acrylic and oil abstracts for private collectors, later relocating to California in 1990 and finding success as a freelance illustrator. From Freelance Illustrator to Renowned Artist In 1993, Stephanie established Paige Studio, where she started selling gallery paintings and limited editions to stores and galleries. She also designed and painted murals for commercial companies throughout the United States. Inspired by Renaissance frescoes, Stephanie developed a unique method of creating large-scale abstracts by meticulously sanding, burnishing, and polishing layers of marble plaster on wood panels. Her love for the coast inspired a mesmerizing, lifelike series devoted to the ocean, masterfully created with thick, textured acrylic on canvas. Her spectacular depictions of nature have earned her international renown as a contemporary artist. Publications and Public Works Stephanie’s nature-inspired artwork has been featured in over 50 magazines and newspapers, including the New York Times, Dwell Magazine, American Art Collector, and San Diego Home Garden Magazine. Her public works and commissions are displayed in numerous public spaces, including Sharp Coronado Hospital, where 14 of her ocean-inspired pieces have been installed. Evolution of Art Through Meditation In 2008, Stephanie introduced a new collection reflecting her personal journey of connecting to the world through meditation and presence. Letting go of the idea of perfection, cultivating gratitude, and existing in the moment have led to masterpieces that invoke the peace and harmony of our relationship with nature. Her compelling meditation circles, exhilarating landscapes, serene sunsets, and expressive ocean scenes evoke emotion and invite viewers to introspect. Artistic Inspirations and Evolution "In 2024, I find inspiration in the shades, tones, and subtleties of my work, which are deeply centered around meditation. My practice is intentional, aiming to convey stories and energy to those who engage with my art," Stephanie shares. Over the last 15 years, her artistic process has evolved from experimental to intentional, with her work leaning more towards peace and joy. Creating meditative pieces has become an integral part of her life, guiding her towards a more centered approach to her artistry. New Colors and Themes While blue remains a constant presence in Stephanie’s work, she has noticed the emergence of gray tones, metallics, and jewel tones in her creations this year. These new colors and themes add depth and richness to her work, enriching the visual experience for both herself and the viewers. Inspiration from San Diego’s Natural Beauty Living in the foothills of San Diego, Stephanie finds constant inspiration in the serene beauty of her surroundings. "I live in the foothills of San Diego, a place that serves as a gateway to the beach while being surrounded by the serene beauty of mother nature. Living amidst the woods with abundant trees and wildlife, I find constant inspiration in the peaceful sanctuary of my hilltop abode," she explains. The expansive views and natural setting of her environment deeply influence and fuel her creative process. A Perfect Day Stephanie's perfect day begins with the joy of waking up surrounded by her four dogs. She then immerses herself in a meditative drum session in her studio, creating an enchanting space where her creativity flows freely. Throughout the day, she enjoys listening to music, dancing, exploring different materials, and creating art. As evening approaches, she watches the sunset over the mountain, experiencing the golden hour and the symphony of birds singing their final melodies. She ends the day with a peaceful walk during twilight, spending quality time with her son and husband, feeling immensely grateful for the moments shared together. Artist Statement "I describe my work as meditative and peaceful, inspired by Mother Earth. For me, life is about freedom and passion—the freedom to be passionate about life, living, nature, loved ones, and creating...and the passion to be free to be myself, to express what I see and dream. My creations start with playtime, I am a child playing with material and I let go of all the outcomes. Enchanted with the present moment, I let the interactions between the material and my hands just dance together. In my work, I see rich textured soil, clear blue water, spacious open sky, and a soft breeze. My pieces of art blend contemporary and rustic earthy feels, two opposites that dance well together. I focus on rich colors, each evoking an emotional feeling I’m looking for. I feel each work of art is meant for someone, finding its way to the person it's meant for. I practice Metta, a benevolence towards all beings, without discrimination, that is free of selfish attachment. It is a strong, sincere wish for the happiness of all beings." Connecting Through Art Stephanie Paige’s journey as an artist is a testament to her passion for nature and her dedication to creating art that resonates with viewers on a profound level. Her work continues to inspire and evoke a sense of peace and harmony, bridging the gap between humanity and the natural world. Artist CV Education Studied Graphic and Fine Art1987 - 1989 Farmington Hills College, Farmington Hills, MI1992 - 1994 Palomar College, San Diego, CA Solo Exhibitions7/2018 Reflecting Sol Exhibit at The Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery in La Jolla, CA5/2018 A.
