Steve Barton is known for his strong brush strokes, rich textures and vibrant colors. His engaging personality is reflected in his work: largely bold, tropical settings flush with a casual elegance, a touch of whimsy and a resounding invitation to relax under your favorite coconut palm. The informal, sunny atmosphere of the Southern California coast, where he lives with his wife and son, influences Barton’s paintings. Originally from New Hampshire, Barton developed his love of art early in life. He studied at Rhode Island School of Design, and then headed to the West Coast, where he sought new ideas for his art. In July of 1999, Barton borrowed some carpenter’s tools from his friends, and after cutting, soaking, twisting and bending, he came up with what would indeed set him apart from other artists: the first Wavy Frame. Each of Steve Barton’s paintings, either original or hand-embellished limited edition, is a one-of-a-kind piece of art, including his Wavy Frame.
