Suzanne Reed Fine is a watermedia painter, exploring color and movement with themes of nature. Born in Albuquerque, NM and raised in rural southern Colorado, Suzanne is a fourth generation artist. Suzanne studied drawing and design at Adams State University in Alamosa, CO where she received her BA, and then furthered her studies in graphic design at the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, GA. She worked in graphic design for a number of years but wanted to focus on her own artistic practice. Her palette reflects both intense hues of the Southwest and the softer atmospheric hues of the South. Her interest in the properties and interactions of color, is revealed with visual intensity and lively marks that invite deeper contemplation of her work. Reed Fine is a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society, Associate Member National Watercolor Society, Signature Member of Southern Watercolor Society. Her art is in numerous private and corporate collections. She is a founding board member of the Bo Bartlett Center in Columbus, GA. Suzanne and her family live in Columbus, GA where she maintains her full-time studio practice.“My artwork is informed by a geographic intersection: the crisp light and clean colors of my childhood in southwestern Colorado, and the softer, more atmospheric influences of my home now in Georgia. The juxtapositions of air and weight, movement and stillness, definition and softness reveal a hybrid world within my paintings. I am interested in the expression of movement within nature, how these energies present themselves and interact with their surroundings. I’m curious about the subject itself and its liminal energetic qualities.
