Tannaz Keshavarzian is a Persian artist and gallerist born in 1991. She lives and works in Paris. Through her practice, she explores unity within the paradox of divided personalities. For her, the purpose of art is to reconnect with the inner self, which she regards as a reflection of the universe. Her work traces a process of self-discovery through multiple media. While her foundations are primarily acrylic and oil, she enriches her surfaces with materials such as wood, textile, and mirror. Many of her pieces combine painting and hand-stitching, a sensitivity to materiality that arises from her studies in Textile Engineering at Tehran Polytechnic and her experience working with fashion designers and fashion houses in Paris. Color holds a symbolic and psychological function in her work, representing the inner worlds of different personality types. Viewers may recognize themselves in one color or feel drawn to others, just as we search in those we meet for the parts of ourselves that feel lost, a way of returning to wholeness. She has showcased her work internationally, exhibiting in galleries and museums in Paris, Rome, Montreal, Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Tehran, among other cities.
