Thomas Robinson grew up in the Pacific Northwest, raised on a farm in a family that valued both hard work and the arts. Music, Broadway shows, museums, reading, and travel were integral parts of his upbringing, fostering a lifelong appreciation for creativity and culture. He was surrounded by strong, intelligent, and creative women, as well as a brilliant father whose career as an ophthalmologist deeply influenced his own path. Robinson pursued medicine through college, medical school, and residency in Portland, Oregon, followed by a second residency in anesthesia in Salt Lake City. He later moved to Billings, Montana, where he built a career in cardiac anesthesia while raising two children and embracing the outdoors. He also had the opportunity to work alongside his father on medical missions in Linares, Mexico, experiences that reinforced the importance of service and giving.Although art was always present in his life, Robinson did not take formal art classes. After his children left for college, he turned to painting as a way to decompress from the demands of his medical career. What began as a personal creative practice quickly became a deep passion. Working intuitively on quiet Sunday mornings, he found himself drawn to abstract female nudes, a subject that continues to define his work. His paintings reflect a convergence of medical knowledge, reverence for the human form, and admiration for the great masters of art and sculpture. Through abstraction, Robinson explores the strength, grace, and sacred beauty of the female figure.During his anesthesia training at Shriners Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City, Robinson witnessed the extraordinary impact of compassionate care on physically challenged children. In gratitude, he donates all profits from his artwork to the Shriners Organization. Every artwork purchased directly supports their mission and the children they serve.
