Vadim Klevenskiy was born in 1964 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (formerly USSR). Klevenskiy was always interested in art as a kid, and later pursued art in university. He graduated from the Institute of Cinematography in Moscow with degrees in Art Education and Film Design. After graduating, Vadim worked at the Moldova Film Studio and several art galleries throughout Russia. In 2002 Klevenskiy moved to Florida, and the southern coast became his new source of inspiration. The sea has always called to Klevenskiy, and over the course of his life he has painted the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea, and the Aegean Sea, but none of them have struck him as powerfully as the Atlantic Ocean. Around 2015, Klevenskiy moved to Texas, and the seaside imagery was supplemented by rocks, stones, and streams. Klevenskiy remarks that it has been “a wonderful experience to see how different the waves look depending on where they are,” and he is excited to evolve his body of work by integrating more aspects of the land from the new place he calls home.
