Veronika Synenka (b. 2004, Kyiv, Ukraine) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Vilnius, where she studies painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Her work grows out of lived experience and is shaped by migration, memory, and loss. She works across media - from painting and text to installation and ready-made objects. For Veronika, art is the most sophisticated way to resist entropy. She often refers to herself as a “professional escapist” - someone who uses art not just to describe reality, but to dance with it and hold onto meaning in a world that is constantly shifting. A key part of her process is play. She is always “hunting” for the joy of a game while creating, whether it is a play of words, senses, or visual elements such as contrasts, silhouettes, colours (or their absence).A central idea in her current practice is the line between before and after, not only a geographic border, but a threshold in time that changes everything. This idea became essential to her recent works, where she depicts objects that traveled with her across borders, turning everyday belongings into symbols and emotional anchors.Veronika has participated in group exhibitions and artistic projects and has had solo shows in Ukraine and Lithuania. Her work is personal, indirect, and intimate - a way of documenting transformation and slowly putting herself back together without fully explaining it in words.
