Victoria Kalaichi is a contemporary Ukrainian artist from Crimea who lived and worked in Kharkiv (Eastern Ukraine) before the start of the war. She lost her home twice. The first time was when Russia occupied Crimea in 2014, and the second time on February 24, 2022. Currently, Kalaichi lives and works in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She and her husband, the well-known artist Denis Sarazhin, arrived in the USA precisely when the war began. So mystically, it turned out that the planned business trip turned into forced immigration. In her work, Victoria prefers the portrait genre and still-life in a hyper-realist manner. She tries to show the viewer that beauty can be seen even in the most ordinary objects, such as a spoon, a copper teapot, or just flowers lying on the table. She graduated from the Crimean Art College in Ukraine, named after Samokish in 2006. The same year, she entered the prestigious Kharkiv State Academy of Arts and Design. Since 2008, she has participated in numerous exhibitions and international Plein airs. Her paintings are in private collections in China, America, Holland, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, etc. Since 2019 she has been a member of Kharkiv’s section of the association of Ukraine’s Artists’ Alliance. Her work is represented by Arcadia Gallery, NY, NY.
