Vincent Dion's abstract paintings and works on paper investigate the material and perceptual conditions of color, form, and gesture. Through a sustained engagement with the language of abstraction, Dion constructs surfaces that oscillate between energetic tension and contemplative restraint, articulating a practice grounded in both physical process and affective resonance. Dion studied Graphic Design at the University of Bridgeport before turning to painting, a shift that informs his acute sensitivity to compositional structure and visual economy. His work has been exhibited at The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Real Art Ways, Pierogi Gallery, and ODETTA Gallery in New York, among other venues. Featured in Post Road Magazine and the Art in Embassies program, Dion's paintings have circulated within both institutional and independent contexts, reflecting the breadth of his engagement with contemporary art discourse. Prior to focusing exclusively on his studio practice, Dion served as collections manager at the Housatonic Museum of Art, where he developed an intimate understanding of artworks' material requirements and institutional stewardship. He also worked as a painting assistant to Helen Frankenthaler during a formative period, an experience that deepened his appreciation for the complexities of chromatic intensity and painterly decision-making within the Color Field tradition. Dion continues to develop his practice from Connecticut, where he explores the ongoing possibilities of abstraction as both a formal discipline and an arena for emotional and philosophical inquiry.
