Virginia Wagner is a painter and multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections between the natural and built environments, perception, and technology. Through layered compositions that merge landscape, architecture, and abstraction, Wagner examines how human progress, digital mediation, and ecological systems coexist and collide. Her paintings often present empty structures — such as skateparks, bridges, and wave forms — as psychological and environmental spaces that are charged with both presence and absence. Wagner holds an MFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and a BA in English and Studio Art from Yale University. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including at the Painting Center (New York), BRIC Arts (Brooklyn), Denise Bibro Fine Art (New York), and the Wassaic Project (New York). She is a recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant and a fellowship from the Bronx Museum’s AIM program.Wagner lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
