William Acosta is a Cuban contemporary artist whose work engages with the aesthetics of advertising, fashion and the mass image. He states that his objective is to reflect “the ideals that publicity imposes on us,” using figures and environments drawn from glamour, social media and consumer culture to craft compositions suffused with iconography and tension. Acosta’s paintings often feature larger-than-life female protagonists set against stylised cityscapes, media-driven visuals and subtle commentary on sedentary desire and identity. His layered works incorporate architectural and social references, exploring how the image infiltrates our subconscious. Based in Havana, he participates in the global conversation between street imagery, fine art and digital culture, and his work is listed in major online platforms and galleries.
