Artist Biography Wyanne Thompson (pronounced Y-Ann) is a painter whose bold, colorful work reflects both her creative spirit and extraordinary personal journey. A BFA graduate of Wesleyan College, she has been a full-time artist for over 30 years, with collectors around the world drawn to the uplifting energy in her pieces. In 2013, Wyanne was diagnosed with Stage IV head and neck cancer, which led to the removal of her entire tongue and numerous lymph nodes. Despite the odds, she relearned how to speak, though she will always have significantly impaired speech. She has been cancer-free for over a decade, and her survival journey deeply transformed her art—painting became her clearest voice and a powerful force of healing. Influenced by Helen Frankenthaler, Wyanne paints primarily on raw, unprimed canvas, letting color flow in a controlled yet intuitive dance. Sometimes she leads; sometimes the paint does. Color is everything to her—it holds energy, emotion, and spirit. She wants it to vibrate off the canvas, to take your breath away, and speak to your soul.
